FLÓRA contains images of most species of Icelandic flowering plants and shrubs, about 460 in total. Here the main emphasis is on showing the plants themselves, their beauty and characteristics, rather than ecology, distribution and taxonomy – a role that is fulfilled by numerous other works. The vast majority of the images are made from living specimens, but otherwise based on the best sources available to give the most truthful picture of each species, in addition to highlighting various characteristics.
The images of the artist Jón Baldur Hlíðberg of Icelandic nature, animals and the beauty of the forest have long been known in this country, as well as having been published widely abroad and received various forms of recognition.
The book is bilingual. In Icelandic and English.
