Knitting with Icelandic Wool contains everything you need to know about Icelandic wool and knitting in Iceland. The book comprises 65 patterns for women, men and children chosen in collaboration with Iceland’s largest wool manufacturer, Ístex.

The book mainly features the classic Icelandic lopi sweater and other popular garments, but there are also patterns for smaller projects such as woolly hats, socks, mittens and scarves. The history of knitting in Iceland, from its origins to the present day, is told with an emphasis on the emergence of the Icelandic lopi sweater, as well as the growth of the Icelandic wool industry.

Knitting with Icelandic Wool is a great book for knitters looking for exciting patterns knitted in Icelandic wool, and an informative and entertaining resource for all who have an interest in the history of handicrafts.

Very interesting book

Very interesting book, easy translation of technical knitting terms. Superb photos, and many patterns. But packaging a little too fragile. Required repair by the French Post, before distribution. Fortunately book intact.

Good and informative book

It was a good read with some nice patterns. I would have liked more history about the wool and sheep, more traditional patterns and more information on reading the knitting charts and interpreting sizes on the charts in the Information section of the book. Also information on knitting places to visit if vacationing in Iceland. Overall a very nice book! Alison
