The Eurasian Whimbrel, recognised by its long, curved beak, undertakes a seasonal migration to Iceland, choosing the island's wetlands and coasts as its summer breeding grounds. Here, it thrives in the abundant, insect-rich habitats, nesting on the ground to raise its chicks. With the onset of winter, the Whimbrel migrates to warmer climates, spending the colder months along the coasts of Africa, from Morocco to South Africa, where it enjoys a more temperate environment and continues its coastal feeding habits.
