Yule Lads & that scary Cat

As a small country, Iceland has tried hard to one-up everybody else at everything. Case in point: Santa Clause. We don't have that guy, but instead we have thirteen Yule Lads, who are, actually, prankster trolls repurposed as git bearing, yet still somewhat sketchy dudes, who, for 13 nights in a row before Christmas, drop of tiny gifts in children's shoes, purposefully placed in windowsills all over the country.
